Just in case you did not know yet. There is a special iPhone application with a user interface optomized for the iPhone available. All you need is a free mytunesrss.com account and MyTunesRSS 3.6 or later.

Hi Michael
Just to say that the new iPhone app is rejecting my login/password on my iPhone. The same username and password works on the iPhone web interface.
Also, I can't get the app to work on my iPad. Not sure if it's supposed to, but just thought I'd mention it.

Hi Nick,
it does not work on the iPad yet. I submitted version 1.0.1 with a few bug fixes and improvements. It should also work on the iPad. I don't have one myself, so please let me know if it works once it is approved and available in the store.
Regarding your login/password, it should be the same login/password that you use in the normal web interface. The server URL has to be the start URL of your MyTunesRSS server, so one of the internal or the external address you see in the server info window in MyTunesRSS.
What message do you get?

OK, I was trying to use the URL with my username and that wouldn't work, but when I tried the URL with IP addresses I could log in.
All my library/playlists are showing up, but when I try to play a track, the app crashes/closes. Maybe the update with bug fixes will sort that.
I will let you know how I get on with the iPad.

Ah, you were using the mytunesrss.com address? I did not check if that works. I would have expected it to work but I will check it.
I am afraid the update won't fix the crashes. I never experienced them. What kind of music are your files? MP3 or AAC? If the latter, are they protected files bought in the iTunes music store?

Yes, I was trying to use the mytunesrss.com address.
Re, crashing, all my music is Apple Lossless, set to transcode to MP3 (none of the files are protected)

Ah, I see. That might be the reason. Did you specify a forced transcoder for the user you are using on the iPhone? Currently you cannot select any transcoder on the iPhone like you can in the web interface settings. So if you don't set a forced transcoder for your iPhone user, you won't have any transcoding active. Can you please check this and let me know.
I will check the mytunesrss.com issue and also provide a transcoder selection in the iPhone interface. If this is the reason for your problems I should probably also notify the user if he tries to play non-MP3/AAC tracks on the iPhone.

I have now specified forced transcoder for the user, updated database and the iPhone app still crashes when I try to load a file.
Also I have noticed that 'Genres' browser takes me to a page called 'tracks', but which actually lists albums and then when I select an album I get a page with a default image and controls at the bottom, but nothing plays and the controls don't do anything

The "Genres" bug is fixed in 1.0.1 which is awaiting Apple's review. If I understand you right you cannot play any of your files? Can you create a guest account with the same user settings (force transcoder, etc) as your own account for me please. You can limit it to only a few songs by creating a playlist in MyTunesRSS, adding a few tracks and setting this as the restriction playlist for the user. Please email me the login and password for the user as well as your mytunesrss.com address to support@codewave.de and I will try myself with my iPhone and/or the simulator.

The mytunesrss.com address problem will be fixed in version 1.0.2 of the iPhone app. Depending on Apple's review process this will take about two weeks (currently 1.0.1 is waiting for review and I want to fix a few more things in 1.0.2).

Version 1.0.2 of the iPhone app will also allow you to select transcoders right on the iPhone, i.e. you don't need force transcoders for the iPhone user anymore.

Hi,
Btw your version 1.0.2 works on the iPad but when I select the settings screen within the app I get a blank white screen with no way to exit.
I've tried on an iPhone 4 using latest iOS - same white screen.
Any ideas?
Oh, also I have a large amount of artists and if I choose artists from the iPhone app it crashes. You may want to limit the # that can displayed at once. |
