The EAP for MyTunesRSS 3.9 will start sometime in March or April. As soon as the first version with some of the planned features is ready for you to test and explore.

One of the main features will be the completely rewritten admin interface. In current versions of MyTunesRSS you get a rather easy to use configuration interface right after starting the program. This is quite good but has two major drawbacks. First you need a server with a display. If you start MyTunesRSS on a headless server you will not have any such configuration GUI. And second you cannot use it for remote administration of your server. You need to be right in front of the computer or use remote control tools like VNC to access your configuration GUI. Both problems are currently solved with the JMX based web configuration interface. This configuration interface is rather simple and so it is not much fun configuring more than only a few things here. MyTunesRSS 3.9 will have a single configuration interface only. A web based one with nice forms and GUI elements. So everybody will be able to understand and use it without any problems and you will be able to remote configure your server as well.

I didn't think the JMX interface was all that bad, but I look forward to your future plans for this.

Well, for setting stuff like a timeout value or a new server port it was probably okay. Nevertheless I think a lot of people would have used a remote configuration interface if it had not been like the JMX interface. Configuring things like adding a new transcoder (with path, pattern, etc.) is - in my opinion - really annoying. Even more if you make a mistake and everything you entered is gone.

I am pretty sure you will like the new interface. Smile

I think a web based remote admin interface would be great. Mainly because the computer hosting MyTunesRSS is 11 floors down from where I am at work and a lot of times people are actively using the computer and I can't get on there. So being able to change admin settings through a web browser without having to log in to the computer directly would be a big help.
